heated floor

Getting cold feet isn’t just for brides and grooms—for some homeowners, its a daily occurence! There are a number of factors that can contribute to cold floors in a home, and the truth is that your home’s heating system probably isn’t going to be what keeps your floors warm.

You may not think about the temperature of your floors very often, but with radiant floor heating, you can experience the ultimate luxury of heated flooring—while also heating your home for less!

Heat Under Your Feet

As the name suggests, radiant floor heating is installed underneath the flooring of a home. It is best installed during the construction phase or during a floor replacement. Since radiant heat works from the bottom up, it can keep your home feeling even more comfortable at a lower temperature (5º less, in fact). Not only will your bare feet be nice and cozy, but your home can feel just as warm at 70ºF as you would with a traditional furnace set at 75ºF!

No more waking up to a cold kitchen floor to make your morning coffee, and no more wearing slippers indoors (unless you want to, of course)! What’s more, is that this process of heating your home from the ground up conserves more energy than traditional home heating systems, which saves you cash each month.

Geothermal + Radiant Floor Heat = Energy Savings

The coils that make up the heating element of radiant floor heating create heat using air, electricity, or water (hydronic heat). Hydronic radiant floor heating is the most efficient of the three, especially when it is combined with renewable geothermal heat.

Geothermal heating takes advantage of the heat underneath the earth’s surface, deep in the soil below your home. A water pump runs cool water down a piping system that goes deep into the earth's crust. That cool water is then heated geothermally, and sent back to your radiant flooring coil system. Even during the coldest months here in Oklahoma, a geothermal system can extract renewable heat from the earth to keep your family comfy and cozy for much less than traditional furnaces or electricity based heating systems. Not only are you saving money, but also you’re reducing your carbon footprint over the lifetime of your home!

I would like to commend DeHart Air Conditioning and two of your employees, Stacy and Akeem. When we moved into our house two years ago we had DeHart clean the ducts.
